Nikki Haley Comes Forward, Shares REAL Reason She Abruptly Resigned

In a shocker, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley announced she would be stepping down from her position in a press conference with President Donald Trump.

The shocker immediately created press speculation that something must have happened. A Bloomberg White House reporter even speculated that the timing meant it must have to do with the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

But Trump and Haley explained the real reason in the press conference.

She said that she believed in the concept of term limits. Trump said that she had told him six months ago that she wanted to take a break “maybe at the end of the year.

Trump said that he wanted to do the press conference to say that she was “very special to me” and that she was “someone who gets it” and had been with them from the beginning. “We’ve done a fantastic job together. We’ve solved a lot of problems, and we’re in the process of solving a lot of problems.”

Haley praised the president. Haley called the job “the honor of a lifetime” and thanked Trump for having appointed her. “Now the United States is respected. Countries may not like what we do. But they know if we say something, we are going to follow it through,” she said. “The U.S. is strong again, and the U.S. is strong in a way that should make all Americans very proud.”

And she explained why she was now taking a break, and dispelled any speculation of her running in 2020, indicating that “I can tell you I will be campaigning for this one” pointing at Trump.

Trump said she had done “an incredible job.” “Hopefully you’ll be coming back at some point, maybe in another capacity,” he told her. “You can have your pick.”

From Fox News:

Haley was a fierce critic of U.N. mismanagement and bias against Israel and the U.S. She secured cuts to the U.S. contribution to the U.N. fund, and pulled the U.S. out of the U.N. Human Rights Council — calling it a “cesspool of political bias.” She also secured an arms embargo on South Sudan, a goal that had evaded the Obama administration.

A number of U.N. diplomats reacted with praise for the outgoing U.S. ambassador. Israeli Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon thanked Haley in a statement “for standing with the truth without fear.”

“Thank you for representing the values common to Israel and the United States. Thank you for your support for the State of Israel, which helped lead to a change in Israel’s status in the UN,” he said in a statement. “Thank you for your close friendship and common paths. Wherever you are, you will continue to be a true friend of the State of Israel.”

“We will miss her. I worked with her two years and from the beginning it was a warm, personal relationship and Morocco will never forget her,” Moroccan Ambassador Omar Hilale told Fox News outside the U.N.
