Former Hillary Clinton Aide Jumps Into Social Media Tiff On Political Qualifications: ‘Ivanka Trump Inherited Everything’

Ivanka Trump’s presence at the G20 Summit in Japan caused quite the controversy on social media after Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez specifically addressed it. Despite Ivanka serving as a presidential advisor, Ocasio-Cortez questioned her qualifications and demeaned her as nothing more than the daughter of the president.

The hot take generated a widespread reaction as many people took to defending Ivanka and questioning Ocasio-Cortez’s own qualifications for public office.

“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a tweet.

English broadcaster Piers Morgan chimed in: “Could be worse… Ivanka could have been a bar-tender 18 months ago.”

In one reaction, Morgan claimed he too was previously a bartender and understands that it would not qualify someone for serving in Congress:

A former Hillary Clinton aide also responded to Morgan, quickly setting himself up for this crushing comment:

OUCH.

The New York congresswoman answered Morgan and suggested the government needs more unqualified people to serve in office.

“Actually, that would make government better – not worse,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Imagine if more people in power spent years of their lives actually working for a living. We’d probably have healthcare and living wages by now.”
