Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is no match for Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, according to President Trump, who said the senator possesses the right drive and skill to topple him as the leading candidate.
As Warren is climbing in the polls and ranks only behind the former vice president and fellow Senator Bernie Sanders, the president said Biden is hardly competition for other Democratic candidates. Trump then predicted the frontrunners for the Democratic presidential candidacy would include him and Warren who “emerged from the ashes,” the Washington Washington Examiner reports.
“I hit Pocahontas way too early. I thought she was gone. She’s emerged from the ashes, and now it looks like she could beat Sleepy Joe. He’s falling asleep. He has no idea what the hell he’s doing or saying,” Trump said.
The Washington Examiner reports:
Trump made his remarks as the Democratic candidates debated in Houston, Texas. While Biden made a strong showing in the beginning of the three-hour debate, he made a few slip-ups and appeared to be fatigued toward the end.
At one point, Biden said, “Nobody should be in jail for a nonviolent crime,” which prompted a staffer to later clarify that he meant to say people should not be imprisoned for a “non-violent drug related crime.” Biden also called for parents to put the “record player on at night” so children can have the mental stimulation of hearing words.
Biden’s campaign has been full of mishaps and gaffes and— in this most recent debate and in the previous one—Warren has been able to make up some ground.
